LINCOLN'S BIRTHDAY
SPECIAL EVENT
FEBRUARY 8, 2003

THE RESTORED LINCOLN LOG COURTHOUSE NOW RESIDES AT
THE MACON COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM IN DECATUR, ILLINOIS

The Lincoln Log Courthouse was built in 1830 on Lincoln Square in Decatur, Illinois.   In 1838, Abe Lincoln started to practice law there as an area lawyer.  One month later it was abandoned in favor of a new brick building.   Later the log courthouse  was moved to Fairview Park in Decatur,  Illinois and was restored.   Then after years of being in the park, the Macon County Historical Society took possession of the building and moved it to their grounds on the East side of town, just east of Lake Decatur, where it has been  refurbished,  repaired,  and restored once again!
